inotec UK has once again been awarded accreditation to a leading edge scheme, designed to help industry improve its safety record.
The Humberside based firm recently regained accreditation from SAFEcontractor, a programme which recognises very high standards of health and safety practise amongst UK contractors.
Specialising in Industrial Application of Auto ID Technology, particularly in the Warehousing and Logistics Industry, as well as Warehouse Safety and Linemarking - inotec UK’s most recent clients have included major players such as Eddie Stobart, Kuehne & Nagel, DHL, BOC and Akzo Nobel.
The company’s commitment to SAFEcontractor accreditation is driven by a culture of continuous improvement and best practice policy across the business.
The company has continued it’s investment in Health and Safety Training for all Staff, not just those involved in on-site installations and two members of the senior management team have gained the prestigious ‘IOSH Managing Safety’ Qualification this year.
David Stocker, Sales Director at inotec UK said: “ Our commitment to Managing Health and Safety issues and to accreditation with SAFEcontractor, not only ensures a safe and secure working environment for our own staff, they also provide the correct level of reassurance to our customers and enhance our ability to attract new contracts as a professional and progressive company.
“ We have seen a significant increase in the scope and detail of Health and Safety legislation in recent years and we are committed to keeping our Health and Safety management at the forefront of this legislation.”
SAFEcontractor is applicable to most sectors although it is particularly relevant to property, facilities management, food manufacture, retail and leisure sectors, all of which are big users of contract services.
John Kinge, Head of Risk at SAFEcontractor recently gave a clear warning to companies employing contractors: "Major organisations can no longer run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety policies".
"More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that INOTEC UK has done. The firm’s high standard has set an example, which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the sector".
Under the SAFEcontractor system, businesses undergo a vetting process, which examines health and safety procedures and their track record for safe practice. Those companies meeting the high standard are included on a database, which is accessible to registered users only via a website, www.safecontractor.com
Employer-organisations who sign up to the scheme can access the database, enabling them to vet potential contractors before they even set foot on site. These employers agree that, as users of the scheme, they will engage only those who have received accreditation.
Over one hundred and fifty major nation-wide businesses, from several key sectors, have signed up to use the scheme when selecting contractors for services such as building, cleaning, maintenance, refurbishment or electrical and mechanical work.
