KNAPP UK Ltd will be demonstrating its capabilities in the design, installation and maintenance of automated warehouse solutions on stand number 45. Specialising in automated order fulfilment, KNAPP’s solutions feature intelligent conveyor systems, automated storage and retrieval systems, sorters and A-frame autopickers. Paperless fulfilment – including RF, pick-by-light, voice-directed picking and now optically guided picking – is a particular specialism. KNAPP offers its own powerful WMS and also integrates its handling equipment with WMS products from other suppliers.
Staff from KNAPP with be explaining the technology behind the company's brand-new optically guided picking system, ‘KiSoft VISION’, which will be launched soon. The system’s integrated navigation system guides pickers to each required pick location using software that superimposes virtual information – such as arrows – directly in the visual field of the operator using a head-mounted display. At the pick location, the required goods are highlighted and an integrated camera reads barcodes, lot numbers and serial numbers to confirm the pick without further human intervention. This automatic visual recognition means that accuracy is higher than with voice systems.
KNAPP UK Ltd has implemented some major installations in the UK recently – including systems for John Lewis, British Gas and The Co-operative Pharmacy. Although regularly supplying large projects, KNAPP is also keen to make its expertise available to SMEs.
